All Natural Pain and Inflammation Management

by Jeremy Kean

Do you know a yoga teacher or professional athlete? If so, ask them what their recommendation is for all natural pain and inflammation management. Chances are, the word "arnica" is quickly spoken. That is because this herb can be used to make a rub or lotion to treat a wide variety of physical pains. When I was researching and testing different all natural ingredients Arnica continued to impress, thus we add arnica to our carrier oils in some of our all natural pain and inflammation management topical lotions and salves.

Arnica is at the base of therapeutic rubs that are used for post-surgery pain treatment. Intense sports and acute injuries can produce mild to severe pain which arnica treats effectively as well. It has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-pain properties, and can be traced back to ancient Egyptian times. Additionally, Arnica does not produce any side effects, like some commercial medicines.

Arnica Side Effects?

Botanist James A. Duke, PhD, is author of The Green Pharmacy Guide to Healing Foods. He points out that, "Almost always, if we find pharmaceuticals doing the trick, we’ll find a plant doing the same trick — and doing it more safely." Since Arnica is a natural substance, with no man-made ingredients, it simply works for you or it does not. It won't leave you with harmful conditions that are worse than the pain symptoms you are treating, unlike many commercial medicines.

Incredibly, traditional and alternative health professionals don't know exactly why Arnica is so good at relieving pain. The exact nature of this herb's incredible natural healing ability has not been determined. What makes this herb such an effective pain reliever may not be known, but those who have used Arnica for pain relief swear by its efficacy.
